The public transport operator of the German city of Herten - Vestische - awarded CaetanoBus to supply 5 electric hydrogen-powered buses to their fleet. The model H2.City Gold will be the first of its technology in the city. The vehicles will be delivered in 2023. The Fuel Cell buses Caetano H2.City Gold is 12 meters long was launched in 2020 and has now more than 80 units already sold to various European cities. The vehicle is the result of a partnership between Toyota and Caetano, which was the first company in Europe to use the Japanese Fuel Cell technology. The H2.City Gold is a standard low-floor lightweight bus with an aluminum body, equipped with a Toyota fuel cell stack with a nominal power of 60 kW, an LTO battery with a capacity of 44 kWh, and a powertrain with a peak power of 180 kW. The buses will have a capacity of up to 82 passengers. The bus will offer an autonomy of over 500km, being able to match the conventional diesel buses’ autonomy in a single refill. The energy efficiency of H2.City Gold is recognized by all operators with the Caetano H2 bus, as having the lowest H2 consumption of the segment. This leads to an environmentally-friendly mode of transport and to achieve the decarbonization goals. The H2.City Gold has at the moment 56 units for several German cities and operators. This is another step to reinforce the presence of the Caetano brand within the most developed country in terms of the adoption of hydrogen as a new way of moving people, and at the same time protecting the environment.
