STCP – Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos do Porto, the main public transport operator in the Porto Metropolitan Area, has officially started operations with 20 new-generation CAETANO zero-emission, 100% electric buses supplied by CaetanoBus. STCP continues to pursue ambitious fleet decarbonization targets and has already placed an additional order for 30 more electric buses, with deliveries scheduled for the coming months.

CaetanoBus and STCP share a long-standing partnership, with a history that includes the delivery of several hundred buses over the years. This collaboration has been further strengthened through electric mobility. In addition to the 15 first-generation e.CityGold electric buses that have been operating in Porto for several years, STCP has now received 20 units of the new CAETANO electric bus generation and has confirmed the acquisition of a further 30 units, to be delivered later this year. By 2026, STCP’s fleet will comprise 65 CAETANO electric buses.

The buses now entering service correspond to the latest version of the CAETANO e.CityGold, a 12-meter model with capacity for up to 88 passengers. These vehicles stand out for the integration of highly reliable, state-of-the-art components and technologies from CRRC, the world’s largest manufacturer of rolling stock, including high-speed trains, buses, and key systems. This partnership brings global engineering excellence and advanced technology to CaetanoBus vehicles. It is important to emphasize that CaetanoBus is responsible for the design, specification, and definition of all product requirements, drawing on its own engineering capabilities and industrial expertise. In close collaboration with STCP, CaetanoBus has developed a new-generation electric bus solution that meets the current and future demands of urban mobility, combining innovation, reliability, and operational efficiency.

In the competitive global urban transport market, CaetanoBus’ s new electric buses meet the standards required by Europe’s leading operators. In 2023, CaetanoBus reached a major milestone by becoming the European market leader in hydrogen fuel cell buses, with sales across Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and Austria. These new generation of zero-emission buses feature advanced technology and 422 kWh batteries, providing extended range, fast charging, and low energy consumption for efficient operations and comfort for both passengers and drivers.
