Today, the first units of the e.Cobus, the first airport exclusive 100% electric bus in the world, will be delivered at an important ceremony at Stuttgart Airport, which will include the presence of Public Entities from the German Government and representatives from the European Parliament. With this commitment, the Company reinforces its leadership in airports with electric vehicles, having already invested approximately 3 million Euros in the design and development of sustainable mobility solutions.
Today, Salvador Caetano Indústria will deliver the first 6 units of the e.COBUS (a 100% electric version of the COBUS model) to Stuttgart Airport, in a deal estimated at approximately 2.1 million Euros. The vehicles will be officially delivered and presented at a ceremony, beginning at 2:30 p.m. local time, and will include the presence of the Minister of State for Transport and Infrastructures of Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and Members of the European Parliament.
The delivery of these units represents a very important step for Portuguese Industry in the vanguard of electric mobility. With the e.COBUS, Salvador Caetano reinforces its commitment to sustainable mobility applied to airports. By the end of the year, it is expected to deliver another 4 units of this model to Geneva Airport in Switzerland. The Company is also negotiating with other airports for new deliveries in 2016.
Launched in 2013 by CaetanoBus, in a close partnership with SIEMENS Portugal, the e.COBUS is the first airport exclusive 100% electric bus anywhere in the world. The investment value for its development and design was 1 million Euros, 40% supported by the National Strategic Reference Frameworks – QREN.
The COBUS brand is the market leader in the airport bus segment with a market share above 70% and with approximately 3,500 vehicles operating at airports in more than 100 countries around the World. Having invested approximately 3 million Euros in the development of electric mobility solutions, Salvador Caetano intends to reinforce its worldwide competitive advantage by maintaining the vanguard of design and clean energy solutions for this segment. With the introduction of the 100% electric version of the COBUS, the Company creates conditions to continue to stand as a clear market leader in buses for airport services.
